I learned to play ukulele while writing
American Lit Remixed.
Heather McBride Photography
I borrowed a ukulele from the Free Library of Philadelphia after hearing about its music instrument lending program. At first, I used chord charts in how-to books to pick out familiar melodies. Later, I studied ukulele and voice with Alexa Korogodsky of the Side Chicks.
I play covers of popular music from the 1960s to the present. Many are Motown songs I heard on the oldies radio station during my childhood. I perform before class for students at Community College of Philadelphia.
The Free Library featured me in its 2019 Library Week campaign.
